Zocuments is building a practical workflow platform for work that starts with documents and ends with a decision, response, or evidence package. The product helps teams ingest records, structure the information inside them, connect related sources, and produce clear outputs without losing the human review that consequential work deserves. We are starting with evidence-heavy operational workflows and are building toward a broader system for document and data automation.

About the role

You will be a product-minded engineer who moves comfortably between interface details, application logic, and the questions that determine whether a feature is actually useful. You will help shape workflows that make records easier to understand and act on, working in short loops with the people closest to the problem. The role has room for depth in frontend or backend work, but the center of gravity is ownership of a coherent user outcome.

Responsibilities

• Translate real operational friction into clear flows, interfaces, and small product releases.
• Implement accessible, responsive React and TypeScript experiences with durable application behavior behind them.
• Work across APIs, data models, validation, and export or integration boundaries when the user outcome requires it.
• Use product metrics, support signals, and direct feedback to decide what to improve next.
• Write tests and instrumentation that make important workflows observable without collecting unnecessary sensitive data.
• Contribute to product decisions, technical tradeoffs, and the everyday quality of the codebase.

Minimum qualifications

• Professional experience building and shipping web applications, or equivalent experience through substantial shipped work.
• Solid TypeScript and React fundamentals and comfort learning the surrounding stack.
• Ability to reason about state, validation, failure cases, and responsive interaction details.
• A product instinct: you care whether a feature helps someone complete meaningful work, not only whether it is technically complete.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, and willingness to ask precise questions.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with workflow software, operations, finance, support, compliance, or other document-heavy domains.
• Backend, SQL, integration, or data-modeling experience beyond the frontend.
• Experience with usability testing, information architecture, or content design.
• A portfolio or code sample that shows care for the entire user journey.

What success could look like

In the first months, success could look like taking a rough workflow from observation to a polished release, reducing avoidable user effort, and making the next product decision easier because the system exposes what is really happening.
