What you actually click

You do not file representment with Visa. You click Challenge, Counter, Add evidence, or the equivalent in Stripe, Shopify, or Square. The processor packages what you uploaded and sends it up the chain.

What representment is not

  • Not a phone call to the issuing bank.
  • Not a guaranteed recovery. Issuers still decide.
  • Not arbitration. Stripe states it does not support the arbitration phase on its platform. Shopify states bank decisions are final and Shopify cannot overturn them.
  • Not something Zocuments performs. This product never contacts a network.

What a representment should let a reviewer trace

  1. 01
    The claim

State the customer's reason in plain language. Do not make the reviewer hunt through the notice to find the issue.

  2. 02
    The merchant position

Give one short answer: what happened, when, and why the claim does not match the transaction record.

  3. 03
    The exhibits

Map each important statement to a readable record. A delivery scan, refund confirmation, account event, or accepted policy should have a clear job.

  4. 04
    The submission

Follow the processor's evidence fields and deadline. The merchant uploads to the portal; the processor handles network delivery.

If you need the mechanical steps rather than the vocabulary, use how to respond.
