What usually counts

  • Carrier page or PDF: tracking number, ship date, delivered date and time, and the full street address.
  • Signature or photo-on-delivery when the carrier captured one.
  • Locker or pickup record that identifies who collected the parcel.
  • For high-value orders, Shopify specifically notes that requiring a signature strengthens a not-received response.

What does not establish delivery

  • Label created, in transit, or out for delivery.
  • A tracking URL with no screenshot or PDF of the scan.
  • Delivery to a different address without explaining a customer-directed change.
  • A packing slip that never left your warehouse.

Ship-to name differs from the cardholder

Stripe flags gift shipments as extra dispute risk. If the recipient name differs, include the checkout gift option, the customer's typed ship-to name, or the message that directed the gift. Do not leave the mismatch unexplained.

For a PayPal case, also check the transaction's eligibility status and the evidence request in the Resolution Center. The PayPal dispute guide explains how internal claims and external card chargebacks differ.
